Michael McPherson, Senior Pastor  Dear Friends, As we move further into this New Year (2011), I want to invite you to join me in preparing for our upcoming Lenten observance. This year Lent begins a little later than usual with As Wednesday falling on March 9. This begins the Season of Lent. Of course during Lent we will hold special Wednesday evening services in addition to our Sunday morning worship. Preceding every Wednesday night worship we will gather for a Lenten meal at 6:30 p.m. The service to follow begins at 7:30 p.m. During Lent this year (on both Wednesday's and Sunday's) I am preaching on some of our member's favorite Bible verses. This Holy Season provides a wonderful opportunity for careful spiritual self-examination and reflection. It also provides for us a period of time to truly prepare our hearts for the upcoming celebration of Easter. May I suggest that the Lenten Season offers a good opportunity to invite others into our community of faith for worship, fellowship and Bible Study. We certainly welcome all people to join us here at Hope Lutheran Church as we encounter the love and grace of God together. I know the Lord will bless us as we grow together in faith and service.
